"It is the fun loving, frivolous, joyful, playful
side of myself which appears
through my work.
The images relate in many ways,
through colour, shape and subject matter.
"

These Encaustic Artblocks below were shown at The Corner Gallery,
Carshalton Beeches, near London.

The Artblocks are made using recycled wood from a speaker company
in the mill where our studio is.
We saw pallets of these circles of 25mm ply being thrown away
and decided to use them as a medium.

We prepare the board with gesso and apply the archival print
onto the board using acid free glue and coat with UV varnish.
The image is then coated with Encaustic Wax,
which is Beeswax and Damar Resin.

Encaustic Painting is an ancient technique,
i'm using the wax as a coating much like glass.

"I believe it is important
as an artist to please
and uplift the viewers’ spirit
or inner child.

I want my work
to have a positive effect
on the viewer
in a very spontaneous way."
